Little Valley Speedway -  Track Rules

SUPER STOCK

Competing Models - Any American made car body.

Wheel Base - 104” minimum. ½” tolerance.

Body - Shell

  1. Aluminum/Fiberglass or Stock Steel bodies permitted. Stock appearing roof & nosepiece are mandatory.
  2. All side panels must be rolled into a stock appearing configuration. Skid rails must flush with body.
  3. No front spoilers. Maximum 6” X 72” rear spoiler. May not extend past body.
  4. Doors, quarter panels, trunk and fenders must have maximum height of 40" from the ground.
  5. No part of the body may extend beyond the outer edge of the tires & the tires may not protrude more than 4” beyond the outer edge of the body.

Floors - Floor must be complete metal with no holes. May be boxed in around driver.

Bumpers

  1. Metal guards extending from bumper to body panel riveted or welded in place must be used to prevent bumper gouging. May have half hoop on front & rear bumper. No higher the 8”, nor longer than 18”. Must not extend beyond bumper.
  2. If a nosepiece is used, the front bumper must be behind the nosepiece.
  3. Rear bumper cannot be wider than the body.

Firewall - Firewalls may be in altered positions with all openings closed with min. 20-gauge steel.

Frame

  1. Stock front stub measuring at least 24” from behind ball joint to the front bumper. Frame rails on stub will be no more than 28-1/2” inside maximum. Stock cross member must be used but may be modified for clearance. Steering box and idler arm must be in stock location. Stock stub other than Camero MUST be approved by tech personnel before entry. Rest of frame must be constructed of 2”X 2” minimum rectangle/square tubing or 1-3/4” round tubing and must have a wall thickness of .083”. All tube cars must use 4130 Chrome Molly Steel construction.
  2. Sub-frame on uni-body car must be joined under car.

Weight

  1. Any ballast used must be attached with at least two bolts of minimum 1/2” diameter passing through the ballast material & a substantial member of the car.
  2. Any ballast fastened to the floorboard must have a washer against the floorboard of at least 1/8” thickness & be a minimum of 2” in diameter.
  3. Ballast may not be welded into place.
  4. All ballast must have car number painted on it in white.
  5. Weight must be at least 2,700 lbs with driver at the end of the Feature Race.

Wheels & Tires

  1. Only 10” steel wheels which meet safe racing requirements with reinforcement or which is designed for racing will be allowed.
  2. The only tires allowed to compete will be the 15 inch American Racer EC-1, EC-2 and the Hoosier RC-1, RC-3 and RC-4.
  3. Heavy-duty lug nuts and studs are mandatory.
  4. Bead locks allowed on right side wheels only.
  5. No buffing or grinding of tire lettering allowed.

Brakes

  1. Lightening of brake drums and/or brake shoes by cutting or trimming metal is not permitted.
  2. Must have working brakes on all four wheels. No brake shut-offs.
  3. Racing calipers will be allowed, however, they must be stock type.

Suspension & Steering

  1. Only one shock and spring per wheel permitted & may be placed in altered location.
  2. Screw type weight jacks will be allowed on coil springs & adjustable shackles shall be allowed on leaf springs.
  3. Stock appearing sway bar allowed. Front sway bar may be used. Any safe mounting will be acceptable.
  4. No fifth coil over torque arms allowed.
  5. Cars with coil springs may use a pan hand bar. With a 3-point rear end, a pan hand bar or W link will be allowed. With a 4-point rear end, NO pan hand bar or W link is allowed.
  6. Torque arms must be mounted solid or rubber biscuit mounted.
  7. No shocks or springs on traction devices.
  8. No half leaf springs allowed.
  9. No birdcages allowed.
  10. Any original equipment passenger car steering box may be used on any car.
  11. NO rack and pinion steering gears.
  12. Stock or tubular tie rods shall be used.
  13. Any steering wheel may be used.
  14. NO center steering will be allowed.
  15. No air bags or air shocks.
  16. No traction control devices.
  17. Stock lower control arms must be in OEM location. No after market lower control arms.

Transmission

  1. OEM production type, Bert, Brinn, and Falcon transmissions will be allowed. No in and out boxes or quick change devices allowed. Must have at least one gear forward and one reverse and a neutral position. With motor running and car in still position, driver must be able to engage car in gear and move forward, then backward.

Rear Axle

  1. Locked or limited rear ends permitted.
  2. Racing or special built hubs will be allowed.
  3. Any car or truck rear end may be used.
  4. NO quick-change rear ends allowed.
  5. No aluminum tubes.
  6. No torque sensing devices.
  7. Floaters allowed.

Clutch

  1. Any original equipment single disk type clutch or multiple disk clutch may be used.
  2. Aluminum pressure plates, Mini-clutches, & Coyote clutches will not be allowed.
  3. Clutch must be at least 5” in diameter.
  4. A clutch - flywheel scatter shield is required on all Super Stock cars, including those using automatic transmissions.

Flywheel - Steel or aluminum flywheel. Minimum of 8-1/2” in diameter.

Bell Housing - Safety type bell housing is required to meet scatter shield requirements. NO Bert, Brinn, or Falcon type bellhousing.

Fuel & Steering Pumps - NO rear mount fuel or power steering pumps.

Drive Shaft - No aluminum drive shafts.


Engine:

Manufacturer

  1. Any V8 American-made passenger car or light truck engine.
  2. Engine may be interchanged with body.

Block – Stock steel production block. No aluminum blocks or heads. Maximum 361 cubic inches, except 370 cubic inches for Chrysler. No 400 blocks or stroker motors allowed. Engine cannot set back more than 1” measured from center of ball joint to number 1 plug.

Pistons - DELETED

Heads - Cast iron only. No aluminum.

Camshaft - No roller cam. Timing chain may be roller chain. No belt drives.

Lifters - Solid or hydraulic allowed. Mushroom lifters & roller lifters will not be allowed.

Exhaust

  1. Exhaust pipes must extend under the car, past the driver & exit outside the sheet metal.
  2. MUFFLERS ARE MANDATORY. Muffler must be unaltered & securely fastened. Muffler must be in place at the end of the race or the driver will be disqualified.
  3. Any type header will be allowed.
  4. Cannot exceed 95 decibels at 75 feet.
  5. Due to local noise concerns - Muffler rules will be strictly enforced!!!

Intake Manifold - Any cast iron or aluminum 2 or 4 bbl. intake may be used.

Fuel System

  1. Fuel lines should be routed outside the driver’s compartment. However, they may be routed through the driver’s compartment provided they are completely enclosed in a steel metal conduit.
  2. Carburetor must be perpendicular to the base with no taper or bevel. No angle mounting of carburetor.
  3. Only carburetor allowed is 500 CFM two barrel Holley 4412 with 1 3/8 “ max bore, with the following modifications; removal of choke butterfly, shaft & linkage, drilling up to two holes in each throttle butterfly to improve idling. Any external modifications, jet sizes may be changed.
  4. Fuel cell is mandatory.
  5. Maximum capacity will be 32 gallons.
  6. Both a safety valve & leak proof gas cap are mandatory.
  7. Fuel cell bottom may not be lower than the center of the rear axle & must be protected with welded steel tubing at least 1” OD.

Fuel - Gasoline Only.

Ignition - OEM battery/coil or MSD ignition. No mags. NO 16 volt batteries. Only one 12 volt.
